gigantic chalk-filled “thank you” to
all the participants of Chalk it Up whose art still colors the community
today. We noted so much talent, heart and inspiration toward the
creation of the murals. Each one had its own life and character. Everyone
is truly deserving of award.

Hometown Award 2000 Description of the award: Summer Concert Series As a result of a survey, it was determined residents desired a venue for concert opportunities, leading to the birth of the Summer Concert Series. With the cooperation of the Village and Park District, volunteers from the local Arts Commission organized the concerts, which included blues, gospel, jazz, and barbershop performers. ![]() |

Hometown Award 2003 Description of the award: Bridging Community Diversity The Fourth Annual Hoffman Estates Quilt Exhibition Hoffman Estates decided it wanted to bridge the gap between the various cultures present in this community without losing the unique qualities of those particular cultures. To do this, the Arts commission hosted a quilt show “A Celebration of African American Quilts” that presented the importance of quilting of the effort of the Underground Railroad. Through the help of 92 volunteers, the show was a success in teaching tolerance through understanding. ![]() |
